New Reels – “All the Time” by Bahamas

Canadian musician Afie Jurvanen, also known Bahamas released his third album Bahamas is Afie on August 19, 2014.

BahamasJurvanen has worked with musicians Feist, Howie Beck, Jack Johnson and has had growing success with his previous 2 albums. His debut album Pink Strat was nominated for a Juno Award and his second album Barchords was also nominated for Adult Alternative Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.

He might have been born in Toronto, but his music is warm and breezy, and I would say a counter spell against his birth place weather (Not saying there is anything wrong with Cold weather) but his music is a way to rise above it or at least forget about it for a wild. His guitar playing is something comfortable, intimate, and you could even say “neighborly”, yet the man is clearly a gifted musician and songwriter, one of those artists that make their skill and talent seem easy.

There are 12 tracks on his new album, and I strongly recommend “All the Time”, “Stronger Than That”, and “Like a Wind”. I read somewhere that he said “I just hope the production is invisible, so the attention remains on the songs” and I think he accomplished that, a fine album I have enjoyed. I chose this performance because it reflects the tone of the album. Hope you agree!
