New Reels: ‘Another Life’ by Black English

Coming out of Echo Park, Los Angeles are a band formerly known as No until they changed it to Black English to avoid confusion with another band (who were named No, obviously). They released their debut album entitled, ahem, ‘No’ last year and this is the latest single to be taken from it.

The video is directed by Zak Stoltz who has worked with Tegan & Sara and passion Pit amongst others, and uses the ultra post-modern idea of making the video about people watching a viral video for a song called ‘Another Life’ by No (of course) which also happens to be so unbearably sad it makes all who watch it break down in tears. This leads to a crisis of masculinity and an epidemic of a “building disorder” where men lay their hand on whatever materials they can to build a den. Yes, really. Watch it, it’ll make more sense than my explanation. I loved it, and look forward to more from both Stoltz and Black English in the future.
