New Reels: ‘Junk Food’ by Findlay

This week we bring you the latest release from this hotly-tipped Manchester based singer.

Findlay aka Natalie Findlay has been slowly but surely building her reputation since 2012 via a smattering of singles and EP’s plus a fairly relentless schedule of gigs including a support slot with Brandon Flowers earlier this year and appearances at the Isle Of White Festival and Liverpool Sound City.

Her latest single ‘Junk Food’ gives you a taster of what she’s about. Full of two-fingered attitude the song and video are an attack on the food industry and more broadly at consumerism itself. In particular, it namechecks the controversial Protein World ‘Beach Body’ advert from earlier this year and the gloriously trashy sounding chorus ends with the line “when you look like that you gotta be hungry”. As for the video, we get Findlay and co. indulging in comical gluttony and a food-fight interspersed with actually quite serious footage of animals waiting for the slaughter. It’s compelling, and a great subject to tackle so directly. We approve, very much, and look forward to the debut album rumoured to be making an appearance sometime in 2016.
