I thought I would take a detour from our usually themed playlist to bring you 15 tracks I have been listening to lately. I think will also do more of that on my future Tuesday Playlists. M.A.K.U. Soundsystem, Bob Dylan, New Order, Jamie XX, James Bay, Tito Alberti Y Su Orquesta and many more. Those of you who know me might also now that the 15 tracks include recent releases, songs that I had not heard before and songs that popped up again that I have always loved or did not pay attention to before but now have.
For today´s 15 track listing I thought we would get a little “Spiritual” and raise your vibration for the day. Don’t worry, no “religious” sermons, just uplifting positive energy music curated only for you. The Beatles, George Harrison, John Lennon, Cat Stevens, Silvio Rodriguez, Leonard Cohen and may, many artist sum up in songs what most religions and spiritual paths preach: love yourself. accept yourself. be grateful. Be kind. be in the moment. be joyous. That way, you will be happier, radiate happiness and bring joy and peace to those around you. There are two ways to look at it. From the down Read more »
A slightly cosmic collection this week featuring The Police, The Carpenters, Brigitte Bardot, Hawkwind, Chris Bell, Kate Bush and more! The space world has been buzzing over the last few days after the European Space Agency’s robot Philae woke up after 7 months sleep aboard Comet 67P. The fact that we’ve been able to land a small robot aboard a comet moving at who knows what speed across deep space boggles our minds here at MVD, although to be fair our minds are quite easily boggled… And so it is that from such mighty achievements come such relative inconsequentialities as Read more »
A 60 track playlist featuring heaven, hell, Jesus, the Devil and all those friendly and things. With artists like Johnny Cash, Billie Holiday, Fats Domino, Depeche Mode, Bob Dylan and many more…a reflective playlist fit for judgement day! (although we are not implying that is happening any time soon…or ever!) “Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company.” – Mark Twain There are some days when everything is nice and calm and lightweight, and there are some days filled with dread and second guessing and guilt trips. But since we like to keep a ying – yang balance, Read more »
This week´s Tuesday Playlist is our number 13. Lucky 13! We chose 15 songs related to luck, superstition and the mystical number. Among them, are artists like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, James Blake, Madonna and Stevie Wonder. There are some people who consider No. 13 to be an unlucky number. Some think it is unlucky because there were 13 dinner guests at the last supper, in Norse mythology there are 12 Gods sitting having supper when an uninvited god shows up (Loki), the murder of the knights of the Templar took place on that date, and there are many reasons Read more »
This week featuring Stereolab, Edith Piaf, Morrissey, Carla Bruni, Bill Wyman, Melody’s Echo Chamber, The Beatles, Serge Gainsbourg and much more! Pour aucune bonne raison particulière à tout ce que je peux vous fournir la playlist de cette semaine a une sorte de thème gauloise…(with thanks to Google translate, of course) No, really it has, and I can’t even begin to tell you why. I can’t think of a good reason why not though, so as they maybe say in France ‘Nous espérons que vous appréciez la musique!’ (with apologies to anyone from France who may read this..)
Our playlist for this week includes a magnificent theme: the sun! The center of our universe and energy source for us all. This Tuesday´s one includes artist like Cat Power, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, George Harrison, Bruce Springsteen and Portugal the Man. The largest object in our solar system. El Sol,. Solei. Helios. The Sun. An ordinary star¨or the ruler of the sky?A gigantic mass made up of 70% hydrogen and 28% helium and with extreme conditions…maybe it is just that, the magnetic center of which the planet earth is just a satellite to. But it is also so much Read more »
This week featuring the late BB King, as well as Gillian Welch, Dan Auerbach, PJ Harvey, Howlin’ Wolf, Amadou & Mariam, Daniel Johnston, T-Bone Walker & more! Welcome to the 10th installment of our weekly playlist, which of course had to kick off with the King of the Blues himself (see our tribute to him here). I thought I’d expand on the blues theme for the rest of the tracks, all of which have some element of the spirit of the blues running through them, or at least that’s what we hear. We hope you do too, and we hope Read more »
This week´s playlist features artists from the 40´s to today. A fantastic 15 song selection with Sam Cooke, Robert Palmer, Soda Stereo and many more. This will be our number 9 playlist. This week I was thinking of a theme and decided it would be “more than one”. So it basically includes songs that are about more than one person. It ranges from different genres, proper names and famous duos. With artists like Robert Palmer, Captain & Tennille, Willie Nelson, Grover Washington Junior, Blondie and many more.
The sequel to Chick Name Jams featuring The Smiths, Curtis Mayfield, T-Rex, White Stripes, Chet Baker, Jethro Tull, Jerry Lee Lewis, Rod Stewart and many more! A few weeks ago we bought you 60 tracks that featured girl’s names, a rich theme running through popular music. We thought it was a very cool playlist but we also thought that in the interests of balance and fairness (and because it also sounded like a cool idea) that we would construct a male equivalent. Initially we thought it might be a slightly harder playlist to build but when we started digging around Read more »
This weeks playlist features Passion Pit, Metronomy, Otis Redding, Elvis Costello, Barbara George, Tom Waits and more wonderful artists and song tittles that start with the letter I! As I was going to prepare the playlist for this week, it hit me that I´d already chosen 3 different songs and they were from different eras, artists and genres, but they all had one thing in common: the song tittles all had the letter I on them. Now, they were also chosen from different playlist…I am not one to question signs so I immediately knew this was the theme for this Read more »
New playlist with music by Odetta, Jimmy Scott, Rumer, Lila Downs, Tito Rodriguez, Esther Phillips and many great more artist singing about heartbreak and a lost love! Today´s Tuesday Playlist is full of sadness and broken hearts because even though it is a terribly thing in life, it is actually a great thing for music when hearts are broken around the world…maybe that is what life does, an eternal cycle of love – broken hearts – good music to make up for it, that music lifts your mood up and you are once again, ready for love! Maybe that is Read more »
“Give me books, French wine, fruit, fine weather and a little music played out of doors by somebody I do not know.” – John Keats, English poet. “Music, like rain, drop by drop, seeps in to hearts and enlivens it” – Romain Rolland, French writer and mystic The relationship between music and the weather is an easy one to understand. Both are capable of many shades and varieties and it’s no accident that songwriters throughout the ages have picked up on how useful an analogy can be made between the ever-changing moods of both the weather and people, being that Read more »
Introducing our new weekly Spotify and or YouTube playlist featuring 15 songs to brighten your week! Those of you who know us quite well by now will have cottoned on to the fact that we like a playlist or two, and we have for almost a year now been presenting you with our themed 60 track affairs which we hope at least some of you have enjoyed. However, we started toying around with the idea of much shorter playlists for two reasons. Firstly, because we accumulate a lot of music on Spotify that we think you would like to hear that Read more »
