Paul McCartney´s ´Egypt Station´

Paul McCartney´s ´Egypt Station´

Sir Paul McCartney is back with a new album (after depriving us for five years)…well, there have been collaborations. Both good and questionable. The album will be released on September 7th, but we have been able to hear three songs. This is the Paul we love and remember. It sounds energetic and it is definitely a new song, but it is reminiscent of Wings. The back up singing maybe? I don’t know, but it Read more »

New Reels: ‘Say Say Say’ (2015 remix) by Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson

The polished up 80’s pop gem from these two musical legends comes with a vibrant new video. Released to coincide with a new remastered release of McCartney’s Pipes Of Peace album, this really not very radical new mix of this old track coud seem like a bit of a pointless cash-in did it not sound every bit as infectious as it did 30-odd years ago. The song itself was a genuine co-write between the two with McCartney supplying the verse and Jasckson then coming up with a chorus, and whilst neither of them could say it ranks amongst their best Read more »

James Bond Theme Songs: 5 of the best

James Bond Theme Songs: 5 of the best

With a new James Bond movie on the way and much talk this week regarding whether Radiohead have done the theme song for it we thought we would look back at Bond music through the ages… Music has always been an essential element of the whole James Bond package. In fact the music – cool, sophisticated, bold, full of panache – helps construct the whole identity of the world’s most famous super-spy. The instantly recognisable ‘James Bond Theme’ was written by Monty Norman, however it was arranged and considerably developed by the British composer and film music legend John Barry, Read more »

Bloke Name Jams – the playlist!

Bloke Name Jams – the playlist!

The sequel to Chick Name Jams featuring The Smiths, Curtis Mayfield, T-Rex, White Stripes, Chet Baker, Jethro Tull, Jerry Lee Lewis, Rod Stewart and many more! A few weeks ago we bought you 60 tracks that featured girl’s names, a rich theme running through popular music. We thought it was a very cool playlist but we also thought that in the interests of balance and fairness (and because it also sounded like a cool idea) that we would construct a male equivalent. Initially we thought it might be a slightly harder playlist to build but when we started digging around Read more »
