The bassist-extraordinaire teams up with a pair of yacht-rock legends for the low-slung funk of ‘Show You The Way’, with this new sequel video.
Stephen ‘Thundercat’ Bruner has been making quite a name for himself in recent years having previously spent 11 years playing with punk/thrash legends Suicidal Tendencies as well as making a nme for himself as a top session musician, working with Erykah Badu and Kendrick Lamar amongst others.
His third solo album Drunk – from which this track is taken – was released earlier this year, and now we have this brand new video, directed by Katarzyna Sawicka and Carlos Lopez Estrada, which picks up where the video for 2015’s ‘Them Changes’ left off, continuing the story of the ex-samurai warrior who first time was reduced to an armless shadow of his former self watching adverts for swords alone at home.
This new video sees the broken samurai enter a recovery center where after having some black nastiness literally knocked out of his head he starts to find a new leash of life.
Drunk was released back in February since when Thundercat has been pretty constantly on tour, including a triumphant set at Glastonbury festival, and returns to British shores in November for shows in Glasgow, Manchester, and London.
